Description
A search for new physics producing final-state leptons whose trajectories are displaced from the interaction region is presented. This search uses a data sample obtained from pp collisions at √s = 8 TeV, with an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb−1, recorded by the CMS detector at the LHC. Many models of new physics predict new particles with lifetimes on the scale that would produce displacements of the decay products on the order of 100 μm − 1 cm. We target a particular model called “Displaced Supersymmetry” but have designed the search to remain sensitive to a wide variety of such theoretical scenarios.
