Minutes SOLID meeting  Friday 4 / 4 /2014

- Fibers :
The plan is to order 90 cm fibres next week. The fibre will end in de PE so there is some freedom to adapt the length.
Fibres will be delivered to Antwerpen.
Delivery time is expected to be 10 weeks.

- Frames

SUBATECH will produce two frames before  beginning June.
Knowledge and instructions has to be transferred to Gent. They will manufacture the remaining needed frames.
The idea to use cords to keep the cubes in place instead of the foreseen PE plates is discussed :
- What is the effect of the material between the planes .  Where simulations done  ?
-  If not who can do these simulations.  Many simulations has to be done , but seems not really assigned to people so nothing happens.
- Overall the feeling is that it is to late to change the design.


-Cubes :
The Antwerpen  workshop has received the new sawing blade.
On the agenda there is the planning for the machining of the cubes.

The understanding is that the groves has to be polished, but there was the question if an unpolished surface would be better for light transmission into the fiber.
Question to Oxford :  Please confirm that polishing is the best  , eventual we have to do a test to see the effect if not yet done.

SUBATEC will wrap the Tyvec around the cubes for the mock up next week and will keep track on the time spend and report about the tolerances in the mock-up.


MPPC's
310 Ordered, first 70 are expected  ~ 10 June,  the rest is expected to be delivered before 20 July.


Nante meeting :
- best date seems still to be (22)  23  June . But Nick can not yet confirm he can come.

As the planning is now we should be able to start building the first plane somewhere middle of June .
