The European Strategy for Particle Physics is a community-driven roadmap highlighting the most essential directions to prepare the long-term future of the field with a view to reach a profound understanding of fundamental interactions. The current version published in 2013, which prioritised the full exploitation of the LHC and its high-luminosity upgrade, is en-route to be updated. This presentation will overview the ongoing discussions that will soon culminate into an updated version of the strategy.
