IceTop is a square kilometer air shower array on the surface of the IceCube observatory at the South Pole. Located at an altitude of 2835 m with an inter-station spacing of 125 m, IceTop is sensitive to air showers generated by cosmic rays in the energy range of 250 TeV to EeV. In this talk, I will present the IceTop detector and how its operation in coincidence with the in-ice part of the IceCube detector yields measurements of cosmic rays, PeV gamma rays, and neutrinos. I will also outline the plans for augmentation of the current surface array with scintillator panels, radio antennae, and non-imaging air Cerenkov telescopes.
