Flux compactifications and their application of light scalars

In this talk I will discuss compactifications from six to four dimensions with magnetic flux in the internal space. After a short introduction to compactifications in general, I will explain several effects of the magnetic flux on the four-dimensional effective theory. In the second part of the talk I will focus on one application of flux compactifications, namely the generation of light scalar particles.
