Description

Abstract: The detection of astroparticles, the cosmic messengers from outside the Solar System, using radio waves is not a new idea. This idea can be traced to the early days of World War II, when it sparked a whole new area of astronomy in the 1940s. However, this technique has remained dormant until the 21st Century, when the advent of fast, digital electronics has sparked a revival of large-scale radio detectors. This talk will review the highlights of the early days of radar and radio detection of astroparticles, and the lessons that were learned for the ongoing, modern-day experiments.
