Description

The CMS L1 ECAL Trigger has been commissioned and optimized all along the LHC Run 1, to overcome technical difficulties and face the constantly rising instantaneous luminosity. The first collisions in 2010 revealed the presence of anomalous high amplitude signals in the ECAL: they would have saturated the trigger bandwidth already in 2011, therefore a rejection procedure was setup and optimised. Besides, the change of ECAL crystals response, due to the constantly rising instantaneous luminosity, was mitigated by a weekly correction procedure. I will summarize the basic functioning of the ECAL Trigger, and review its performances and optimisations all along Run 1.
